Ok, you asked for it (or not). Sorry if it's bad to post the same thing as at that other forum, but I found no easy answer for this. Here's what I know now.

Westy hardware:

Standard hardware (or equivalent 10-24 j-type w/ 5/8" machine screw):

The reason for the season:

Long hard life:

Looking better and ready for another 30 years:

New vapor barrier:

New door panel and hardware:

I know non stock isn't for everyone, but I like it better than the torn green vinyl. I backed the panel with 1/8" closed cell foam to reduce noise and increase insulation. The standard door pulls will allow the use of the Vanagon (another sin) seat armrests. Do note the use of the beefier Jetta window cranks.

That looks really nice.
Better than the OEM vinyl in any condition, IMO.

Thanks. It was a lot of work. I still need new door seals and then the doors will be more or lest "restored" (except the window seals/scrapers that seem to be ok). No new holes were drilled as the panel push button thingies use the existing holes. Bonus.

Are those push pins store-bought then?
I was trying to figure out how those were made. They look great on the wood.

Wow! That latch assembly sure cleaned up. It looks like a new replacement.
