Wiper shaft hardware question

Post by tractoman » Thu Mar 05, 2009 10:07 am

I am looking for the rubber washer that goes on the outside of the car on the wiper shaft that passes through the body. Is this just a flat rubber washer or is it a bushing of some sort? Mine was missing and I put a neoprene washer on it but it's cracking and didn't fit the shaft correctly.
Thanks,
Mike

They're actually grommets. They look like this.

Available here http://www.wolfsburgwest.com/cart/Detai ... 311955261A as well as most other VW vendors.

They're easier (aka possible) to install by removing the wiper arms and then the wiper-shaft/motor assembly. Then you can install the new grommets and re-assemble everything. It's not as bad as it sounds and well worth it to keep the water out of your bus.

... as it turns out, it was the coil!

So the shaft comes out and then the grommet goes in with the body in the middle of the grommet and then the shaft goes back through?
Thanks,
