How to remove a stick-on mirror?

Post by glasseye » Tue May 20, 2008 6:23 am

My driver's side stock mirror has one of those $2 convex stick-on mirrors. Not only does it interfere with the view, it's broken.

What's the best way to remove it? Heat?

Heat might crack the OG mirror. Those spot mirrors are held on with adhesive try a box cutter razor blade and scrape/work it under the edges like scraping off a sticker. Acetone, lacquer thiner, even a spray of carb or brake cleaner will help dissolve the adhesive. Oh yeah I suggest a box cutter razor because they are less flexible and you can really work at it with one.

Thanks, boys. Chemicals and razor blades it is. Carb cleaner sounds like fun. I just happen to have a can. :drunken:

Paint thinner works great for adhesive removal, too.
