Best body panels for a '73 Bus?

Post by Sluggo » Fri Sep 21, 2007 1:18 pm

I need the drivers side middle panel, that strip underneath it and the piece behind the bottom strip. I also need front half of the left rear wheel area.

Anyone know who sells the best panels and has good prices? Also the correct names for these pieces would help.

I have gotten items from Wolfsburg West in the past. They were okay. Check em out here:

Good luck, Tim

The underparts seem pretty cheap (the outriggers and jack-supports and cross-braces) -- in the 20 dollar range. I think I'm gonna need some. Pickin at rotten undercoating I see some of the sheetmetal rusted completely through on mine. Particularly the outriggers right behind the front wheel wells. It's a channel running perpendicular to the jack ports that is completely open now (rusted).

Get the German door seals from WolsburgWest. About $50 per door, but they are *excellent* quality. I replaced my seals this spring, and they fit perfectly.

Finally got my tax return yesterday and made my sheet metal order today. I'm hoping to get the welding, bondo & paint done before I move to my new building. It's kind of a snooty area and I think that might be going too far to do the big stuff there. I'll be getting their door seals later.

My condolences...luckily I've never had to put up with that crap. That's a big job, you do your own welding? Good to hear.

It's cool. I have a garage to work in but I think the sounds of welding and smells of painting would set some people off. The building I'm in now it's actually not allowed. But I have a good relationship with all but 1 tenant and I clean up my mess so it's no big deal.

I wish. Bottomend has a friend that he did some work for and I helped pull his engine. He's a talented welder and I'm gonna try and get a good price. This guy has a beautiful '72 Panel Van with double sliders that I drool over every time I think about it.
