Who's done POR15 or equivalent?

Post by DurocShark » Mon Feb 12, 2007 6:39 am

Calivw78 and I are planning a paint party for our busses to do the undersides and interior floors with the stuff.

Anybody have any tips or suggestions for us? We'll be spraying most of it...

It's all in the preparation. I had a nasty rusty dent in the right rear corner that I attacked with it and it has held up very well. No sign of rust. On the other hand I used it under my windshield, but it hasn't seemed to stop the rust there. It probably wasn't 100 percent clean when I put it on.

Very good results. Prep well, get rid of loose rust, reapply as directed. The stuff is really amazing. Oh yeah it's photo sensitive, primer it ASAP.

I just used POR15 for its recognizable name. Our local paint shop sells a different brand as well as POR. This other brand (sorry, forget the name) gets great reports back to that shop and it's half the price.

I've brushed on Rust Bullet and really liked it, so I'm sure I'll be happy with this too. Just hoping for gotchas and tips on spraying.

i used por 15 on the inside of my westy(beneath westy interior and up front beneath the carpet)all is good 4 years later. i sprayed por 20 on my heater boxes. didn't add anything, good prep work. they have started to rust at the seams after just 3 years. a friend painted his heater boxes with por 15 and they looked great after several years of year round driving.

I've used Zero-Rust. It seem sto work good so far ( 18 months?). It's quite a bit cheaper than some of the other brands. Look em up and read.

Anyone try the POR15 Floorpan & Trunk Restoration Kit? It would seem to have all the elements to do the job truly right.

i used the regular por 15 black stuff almost 5 years ago in my and it's still all good. (just had the interior out recently) i don't see any reason to go any further than that with por products. hope this helps.

Spray this on your underside. That's my plan.

If you paint you have to clean out a lot of gunk, but gunk is a good rust preventor...oil and what not. Just spray this stuff all over underneath, you'll be good.
