Will headrests from the front seats of a '79 fit my '78; anyone know? Are the two posts that slide down into the seat back the same diameters and distance apart-center to center?

Hmmm. Got the headrests in. The holes in the seat backs are smaller diameter than the tubes on the headrests, therefore a no go. Was there a second tube with a snap button that goes into the holes? The tubes on the headrests have what appears to be adjustment holes in them.

There is a plastic grommet that keys into the seat frame and covers the nasty hole in the vinyl. Do the headrests have well-defined edges or are they big punching bags?
Big punching bags:

Well defined:

Here's a late model headrest with grommets:

Here's a hole with the vinyl not installed:

Well defined edges, exactly like the ones in the pic with the Allen wrench in it.

I cleaned and lubricated my headrest posts for e-z slide action. The plastic grommets should not have any stray vinyl competing for hole real estate, that will jam the works.
