What kind of adhesives are folks using on door/lid seals? The engine bay needs new seals, and I have some permatex "Super Weatherstripping Adhesive" I was going to use, but upon reading the instructions it warns to avoid using on exposed painted surfaces.

Re: seal adhesive?
Use it. I also use the Permatex black stuff on door seals.

Re: seal adhesive?
I recommend the tried and true 3M yellow stuff ("Super Weatherstrip and Gasket Adhesive" edit Stan) , very sparingly only where necessary. I do not use any adhesive where the seal is in a channel. For example, Chloe has no adhesive at all for the engine lid, no adhesive at all on the sliding door, only corner tacks for the tailgate, and strips of adhesive only where there is no channel on the front doors.ruckman101 wrote:What kind of adhesives are folks using on door/lid seals? Re: seal adhesive?
Ditto on the 3M "Super Weatherstrip and Gasket Adhesive". I used it on my Triumph project, a while back, with fine results. It has weathered a few seasons and all is well.

Re: seal adhesive?
Of course in Oregon you could dip the car in acrylic and it would still leak in January. Insane I tells ya.
