My rubber is still good..

.. with a 3" gap at dead center by the firewall.. Alternatives are $60+ from various vendors. I wonder if there is a home depot solution for $5..

I have a bunch of extra left over from my 81 iffin you want it, just pay postage, otherwise free.

There's probably 2 or more feet of it left, brand new. PM me an address.

be sure that the home depo foam is closed cell, open cell will hold oil/gas and could be a danger.

really?

I offered to send you enough to fix the gaps in your engine compartment for free, just pay the postage.

If that doesn't work for you, I don't think there are any better suggestions other than going and buying a whole new one yourself and cutting what you need out of it, or just slapping whatever crap you can find at Home Depot in there instead.

That's what I was thinking.

When I need some random bulk material, I usually order from McMaster-Carr. Made rear wheel well liners for my truck out of 3/16" thick EDPM rubber...Where? McMaster-Carr. Cheaper when you cut stuff yourself.
(But in your case, I'd take aircooledchris up on his kindness.)

I saw a great way of making rear fenders on a logsplitter, which could also be used for wheel well liners - using about a third of a used rear tractor tire. No dents, no rust, no cost, recycled - many benefits
