Felt Window Channel

Post by hambone » Wed Oct 26, 2011 3:57 pm

Does anyone know of a workaround for type3 felt window channels? I only need 1 side, and they come by 2's. At $40, I just can't afford it.
Many retailers are selling a channel that "fits" types 1-3, how is that possible? The type3 stuff (probably similar to type2) is much wider.
Thank you,

Buy the two and sell the one for $22.00? There's 10% return right there, unlike my bank's 1.002%

Get a used one from a wrecking yard? Some used German stuff may be better than the cheep new Chinese self-digesting thread felts.

I thought about the used-route, but the 2 that I've seen are crumbly rust down inside the door channel. I think for such a hellacious job the right materials should be used. Not to mention total door assembly to even get to the felt.
ISPWest still sells new German at the correct 48" needed for type3. I am becoming mad with facts.

The ISP West, German felt channel fit and functioned marvelously. Oh I'm delighted.

Quality! Pay Up! Besmirch the false economizers at the counter, "so YOU're the idiot goading these manufacturers into selling cheap crap to the indiscriminate."

I wanted to contribute rather than detract from the remaining originality of the car. Stubborn, down to the last nickel.
