Type1 Alternator Orientation

Post by hambone » Tue Apr 26, 2011 5:00 pm

Hiya,
12V Type1 alternator: a question about the backing plate.
Does the cooling slot have to face downward, or does that only apply to generators?

Slot faces downward. Both utilize the exact same cooling requirement. The plate against the alternator itself has a little hole that is along the bottom of the alternator, that is for the spark plug wire clip.
