1977 Bus - Alternator Harness Mystery Wire - Pic Added

Post by Sluggo » Wed Sep 23, 2009 7:31 pm

I have two unconnected wires on my alternator wiring harness just before where it meets the Voltage Regulator. I know one is the wire that goes into the main harness and always gets cut when pulling the engine. The other is a black wire with a male spade connector on it. I have no idea where it connects. Any ideas?

Is it possible this goes to the nevermore used "test connector" Is yours even still in the bus? It's the giant white plastic multi-socket connector that (at least on the '77 I owned) is mounted up by the right tail light housing.

I guess it could. My test connector is not there at all. This would be the only remnant of it I've found.

Here's a pic of the wire in question. The black one with the male spade connector.

It's an extraneous wire for the non existant test network. You don't need it.

THANKS! Is it always live or only with ignition. Might be a good place to connect a relay switch. I'd check but I don't have all that hooked up yet.
