Battery Leak
Aux. battery is leaking acid at the terminal. Can this be glued, repaired or is this battery done?

Re: Battery Leak
Not an expert here, but I've repaired plastic with those two-part epoxies and they've held up really well. Worth a 5 buck shot in my book.dingo wrote:Aux. battery is leaking acid at the terminal. Can this be glued, repaired or is this battery done?

Anyway, a much bigger prize was discovering that when I added a second ground cable between the battery and frame, that she starts much quicker and much healthier! No wonder she labored so much at cold start!

Just to the indicators that make the water level creep up in a circle due to surface tension.dingo wrote:I dunno. I don't see any leaks around terminal. Maybe the levels are too high? How high are the fluid levels supposed to be?

When you fix the leak douche the area with a strong solution of baking soda. Battery acid is extremely corrosive. That's why Beetles for sale almost always mention the battery area either needing to be, or have already been replaced. The baking soda will neutralize the acid. You probably ought to take the battery right out and clean the area good.
