So I managed to replace the boot for the first time on my own last month and I was under the Bus yesterday and noticed the new one is torn already!
As far as I know it was put on correctly. I slid it down to where the rib catches it and put a zip-tie on it (like the other one that I had replaced a year ago). It is broken at the wheel end and has actually slid off the rib.
Possibly a bad boot or operator error?
Also I was told to discard the washer on the inside (closest to the center of the axle). I decided not to just because I'm stubborn like that. Should that matter?
Replaced my CV boot. 3 weeks later it's torn again...

Washer shouldn't matter although I reused mine. Sounds like a bad boot. What brand/vendor? There have been reports of a lot of bad boots out there lately. Bummer man I screwed up my back and neck doing that very job last week. There must be an easier way...
