Beautiful as always, Colin. Even after all I've been through with my transaxle, I never really understood what was going on in there. Now I do, thanks to you.

I did find a syntax error, however. On page 3, next-to-the-last paragraph. "Look at the below:" Perhaps you meant "Look at the picture below:"?

Other than that, it's perfect. I love the font, but your handwriting was just as readable to me. I don't know if it has to be "font-ified" for publishing, but either way looks great.

Thanks for giving us sneak-peaks into the long-awaited book. That's what this is, right?

What a crazy design, I've never known gears to have bearings in the hubs. Are they press-fit onto the shafts? It must be similar to drum brakes and bearings. All these years, had no idea how the transaxle really worked.
How do the snychronizer hubs do what they do?

Yes, how does the poor syncronizer do its thing? I think this work is wonderful too. It isn't even about the drawing (which is beautiful as always) but it's about the conceptualization. I have never read anyone break this down so clearly and smoothly. You would be a great textbook writer.

I believe the syncros are little 'friction cones' which is why they eventually wear out with too much use like any other friction parts (brakes, clutch, etc). I'll let the master clarify.

When I first did this Double-Clutch Treatise, it was all on one piece of paper, I do not how I did it, nor how anyone could read it. It has been a raging need o' mine to describe synchronizers so that people really get it. I always hated the years and years of explanations and diagrams and photographs that just never showed you how they actually worked. I think this might do the trick, please let me know. Z and Jeffrey Blair can tell you that I have been a madman across the drawing board, coffee at 10AM and 8:00PM up until 4:00AM for the past two weeks trying to wrestle concepts onto paper.

I think you've done an excellent job explaining one of those topics that is beyond challenging to commit to a static 2D page. Certain things are just difficult to explain without a moving example.
