fan shroud paint

What have ya'll used for paint on your fan shrouds - Its such a visible part of the engine, and I've spent so much time scrubbing, I want to make sure it looks good - I purchased some Rustoleum Hammered Silver, but I'm just not sure if I should go with some type of shiny aluminum paint. Show pics if you got em'.

How much do you want to spend? You can have all of your tin, fan and shroud powder coated for about $150.

Hiya Troy,

I went with a couple of coats of Krylon primer and followed that with a couple of coats of Krylon Satin Black on my tin. Looks just like the factory finish. And it appears to be wearing just great.

But I dunno what you Type 4 guys would use for that aluminum fan shroud. Polish it a bit and clear coat it?

By the way, that powdercoating looks absolutely great Jasan!

Tried the clear coat and powdercoating it works the best!

Por 15 Metal Mask is what I'll be using. Supposed to look like bare metal. We'll see.

nice photos, and better looking housings and tin. i've already spent a while cleaning the grime out of mine, still got to prep for painting (dremel should do nicely).

question: is there supposed to be a small hole (drain?) at the base of the fan housing, just to one side of the seam? i hope so, as mine has said hole. it would seem to be a not-so-bad idea to have one there, anyway.

Here is the what Rustoleum Profession Primer with rattlecan Rustoleum Hammered Silver looks like.

Major improvement from what it looked like before.

Nice job, Troy! I'll keep that hammered Rustoleum in mind for if/when I need to do mine. I like how that looks!
