No rocker arm area oil?

Post by mentalQtip » Thu May 21, 2015 12:01 pm

Hi guys.

Starting a two liter hydraulic valve engine first time. How soon should oil be showing up in the rocker arm area? I've run it maybe 20/30 seconds and there is no oil present. Normal or major bad?

Have you built oil pressure? Is your oil light on the dash functional? If you haven't, pulling the sender and plugs while cranking should help a ton. If the dash light is not functional, crank until oil pours up through the sender boss. Good luck

Are you running the engine with the valve covers off? How else would you know that oil has not arrived at the rocker arm area?

Oil all the rocker shafts, washers, (circlips -Type 1) spacers and valve stems with engine oil from a squirt can to make sure that you do not damage anything.
