Sorry, what are unpiloted wheels?

Piloted wheels are centered by a flange. The wide-five early VW wheels used the lug bolts themselves to center them, much less precise. Many early American cars are un-piloted as well.

This is way late, but I think the 72 ft lbs number was for a Beetle. I do my Bus to 94.
Friend of mine (You know Bill, Colin) actually handed the mechanic his lug wrench and said "Now, take 'em off." He couldn't do it so he put away the rattle gun and used the torque wrench like he'd been asked to do in the first place!
I laughed my butt of when he told me that!
