It was just about the time this video was made that I took a tour of the VW factory in Wolfsburg. I was eleven or twelve at the time, and was living in Frankfurt am Main. I don't remember the factory itself in any detail, but I do recall taking my toy cars apart later and reassembling them "factory style" by dropping the frame onto the chassis. One of the best field trips we ever took!

Just got around to seeing this, Chris. Gives me a little lump in my throat to see new air-cooled Volkswagens assembled like they knew it would have legendary reliability and quality. The narrator was a bit mouldy "because it was built to an Idea", and the music was threatening to crescendo a sunset right over my monitor, but it was a pleasure to see none-the-less. I liked the fact that the narrator did not skip over the fact that they barely got this plant going in the beginning. He did skip over, however, any mention of Heinz Nordhoff. Was that because Heinz was modest?
Thanks for posting this.
