Too provocative?

Post by chitwnvw » Sun Oct 22, 2006 6:45 pm

Is the image atop of the IAC website a bit too suggestive?

Image

When I am at work and want to quickly check out new posts, I have coworkers glancing at my screen and thinking I am looking at porn! What's everyone else think?

I mean too provocative, sluggo, amskeptic can you change that???

I don't think it is suggestive of anything and if anyone audits your internet time because of rumors they will just see a bunch of VW nuts talking about VWs and such.

What sort of people do you work with? After this Foley nonsense, I can only say that people project their own issues onto others.

That's a dangerous allegation in some work environments.
I'd give them hell.

So while we are here, what do you think? Too suggestive?

I quite like it. In fact, it is my homepage here at work.

Um, suggestive of what?

Personally, I like that the woman is working on the bus. I like the shift of perspective (as in a slanted angle). And having been privy to Colin's beautiful work up close, I appreciate his attention to detail as well as the play on words involved with the story in the pictures.

Art is best appreciated as it is, no *figure it out* required dude.

I don't mind the picture, but I would vote for a much narrower image at the top, more like a banner saying "IAC" or something like that. It's the engineer and web dev side of me that doesn't like it mainly because it takes up too much real estate. It forces me to have to scroll more than I should have to. Rule of thumb on web stuff, anything static, like a brand or logo shouldn't take away from updating content.

Sluggo had some simple banner he showed me one. I thought it was pretty cool.

As another idea, what if it got switched out with a simpler banner style logo and then we have IAC members submit their own variations to the site and rotate between a bunch of them??? Just an idea.

I like the picture.

How about a monthly poll? A different picture each month to display Amskeptics wonderful art work would be neat!

It's not about liking the picture. I love hot women working on air cooled engines! But this is the front door, what the outside world sees. This particular drawing reminds me of a fantasy artist when I was growing up and playing D & D. Frank something or the other. The women had swords and were very tough, but a lot of t and a also. Again, love smart, tough, savvy women that also have all the curves, it's not about that...

The leggy woman dispels any possibility that people believe my, "It's work related!" claim. Even if I just check new posts at lunch. I don't know, is the midwest just really repressive. They see that on my screen and bells and whistles go off all around. :irwin:

Are you going to hold it against me?

My son was asking about D&D recently, he's intrigued. I was honest, mostly, it was good times. We stayed up all night eating bad food and drinking RC Cola, until my real world friends teamed up and killed off my best character, it was good times. Then it all fell apart. Of course puberty and girls entered the mix, so who knows. Growing up is hard!
