Charlie Wilson's War. Humourous, inspiring, and in the end, damn scary (based on a true story).

sabrina--the remake with harrison ford and julia ormond.

and tonight its sylvia--with daniel craig and some actress i didnt care enough to notice. might not watch it though, since plath will no doubt stick her head in the unlit oven and im not sure im up for that. have to be in right mood for a suicide movie.

i love netflix most for all the old tv shows--andy griffith, i love lucy. you can find anything. even british sitcoms.

Bucket List

We were apprehensive.. don't watch the preview... just watch it. Two great actors.. you can't go wrong.

Wilby Wonderful which is well worth renting and is a (gasp) Canadian film. Any film with Sandra Oh in it is worth renting.

i agree--it was the actors that made it great. it could have been a schmaltzy flop, but not with those two.

Last night I got to see a screening of The Wackness. Not my usual fare, but amazingly good. You WILL be hearing a lot about this movie; I predict that it will be a big, big hit. Watch for it to come to a theater near you.

Juno.

Liked it. Jaded smart-mouthed pregnant 16 year-old. Serious topic, softened with humor but still kept real.

The Oscar winning screenwriter "Diablo Cody" who now writes for magazines on the side (can't remember offhand which ones) was a long time member of a stepmother group we both belonged to. She always had great stories, but dropped out of the group when she split with her man, thus ending her living in step.

She was on Letterman for Candy Girl, her expose about being a stripper.

Gonna have to see that film and read the book one of these days.

10,000 BC. IT SUCKED!

We're watching a Brazilian movie tonight call City Of God. It's supposed to be great. They call it the Brazilian Good Fellows.

Watched Return Of The Living Dead (for the millionth time) a few nights ago. I love 80's Horror!

I've got First Blood and No Country For Old Men coming today.

Flags of our Fathers next up is We were Soldiers then Tibetan Book of the Dead.

Flags of our Fathers was full of the typical war scenes that seem to go over the top nowadays but with the story of the young men that raised the flag in the famous picture from Iwo Jima duing World War Two. Interesting since I knew nothing about these people but the film is disappointing for not developing them as people you felt you knew very much about. One of the soldiers had a serious problem with alcohol and was tormented by his experience yet we were cheated of really feeling what the character felt. We were merely shown he was drunk a lot and in pain.
