Fuel Filler Neck - Bird's Beak!!!

About 15 years ago, I found a pristine bird's beak fuel filler neck on a Cali bus that made it to a local junk yard in Northern Virginia.

I thought I had a 'one-of-a-kind', and I went to bed every evening with a smile on my face. For 15 years...

Then today, I saw another - for sale - on a VW site.

So, I bought it. Now I have a 'two-of-a-kind'.

Question: when I go to sleep tonight, will I be TWICE as happy, or HALF as happy?

I missed it! My Bus has the original intact. It's a prerequisite for SMOG here in CA and I'm always nervous about what will happen when it finally falls into the tank. Let me know when you find another - I can wait 15 yrs too.

Do today's smoggers even know what they are looking for? I have no doubt that I would try to fake them out if they didn't know what it was.
"Do you have an unleaded fuel restrictor?"
"Yes."
"Show me."
"Here, a regular nozzle can't negotiate the corner here, it would spray back in your face and light the gas station on fire, have you seen all of those VW fires?yeah that's regular fuel people trying to power past the restrictor, no really, we're good, how 'bout them Eagles, huh? now they got bird beaks. Anyways."

Sorry. Is California still hung up on the fuel nozzle restrictors?

For what years Baywindow?

If you just need the fuel nozzle restrictors, without an emissions test, I have a suggestion.

Interested?

It just has to be present. All pumps now have unleaded fuel with unleaded nozzles, so it doesn't "matter".
But the smog check people like to tick off their list of required equipment without having to debate.
