Option 3- Big hammer, some jacks, blocks, and some figgerin' about how and where to push these dents out to usable condition...?
Confirm all the important systems are ok, but you may be able to get a windshield back into the opening if you can get the crease out gentle like...

Battle scars.

Glad you took pix.

Holy shit, I'm glad you survived...that was a close call. That van was dangerous-light in the back end, this was a disaster waiting to happen.
Personally I'd not roll a vehicle that went thru that. Part it out and move on.
Shit. After such a wonderful weekend.

I'm just happy to hear that your still around to be considering options to the damage on the van, and not to yourself! Thank God your ok.

Well, other than that big "yikes!" it was a great time! Glad you're ok Adam. That Chevy is too cool to die though!

@ The "Oh thank god you're OK!"s: Thanks guys, that means a lot. :)

@ Vista's intervention: Honestly........... I'm not even sure anymore. I would swear on my life that I was hitting the breaks. The break pedal is higher though, worn to the gas pedal side. Could've easily slipped onto the gas as I was trying to get things settled. =\

Damn!!! So glad you are okay. It's truly amazing you weren't seriously injured. Having any pains now? I've been in a few accidents and the pain always starts a day or two later.

Sell the parts and get a bus with weight over it's excellent rear wheel drive. Then no more falling off of mountains.

Be *glad* we got shook up by this, don't apologize. If we *didn't* get shaken up .. that's when you'd need to wonder.

Yes,
Be glad. It opens your eyes to just how precious live is and how quickly something like what happened could end it all.
No apologize needed here.

This is another cog in the miracle gear that engaged with this event...

Had he missed either of the stumps that slowed his descent into the ravine, it may have been some time before he was located.

He would have disappeared into the ferns.

Family wouldn't have even started looking for him 'til after dark...The "golden hour" would have passed in a beat...

Had he been bumped, leaky, or not conscious, it could have been a pretty cold and sketchy first night.

With any luck the next day's looking would have revealed the location but it wouldn't have taken very many passing vehicles to block out Adam's marks on the road. May not have found him for several days on the fifteen miles of road twixt the camp and the asphalt.

This was truly a close call.

(Kind of like walking off to do your business and losing your way back and wandering through the forest for a couple hours realizing you don't have any water and not much for warm clothes...I've done it.)

It can happen and you can walk away from it with nary a scratch.

Or.....not.

Do understand that each one of us that stopped and saw yer rig were thankful that we could do something to help and that things were working out the way they were.

I believe that we all can get something good out of being shaken up once in a while.

Apologies are absolutely unnecessary.

There may be some lessons to be learned about speed and gravel roads and such, but in the end you are able to camp again. That is the only real thing that matters.

Easily my friend. I actually saw you pass by me, we (dad and I) were sitting in a Subaru, waiting for a tow truck. :)

That's it! I have bad luck with gravel!
Think about it guys, that's how the Civic's misfortune also occurred.

Now, I'll do some definite steps to wrap the poor thing up and prep it for the rainy season, as nothing else will be done with it this week.

It helps too that I'm not treating the van as bad luck. I am seriously thinking of saving it, as I would be very sad to see it go. As said, if all else fails at least it'll live on in parts.

When I went off-roading in the Civic, I was on the shoulder with loose gravel, which gave under the wheel, and thus I slid down hill.
