in a quest for understanding the children and i just sat through the greendale movie, followed by robert altman's 2003 account of his film images. homeschool music in session. images has a score by john williams i like - strange tom waits-like, late 60's psychodrama percussion put out in front for big affect. altman discusses the piano pangs and percussion pings by stomu yamashta. cannot forget the soundtrack to cinderella story going by right now. has a cover version on dylan's to make you feel my love by a kid named josh kelley.. like whatEVer warner brothers!

jeez, i don't know if he's alive - a search revealed he was steady as of five years ago, but maybe he went back to the buddhist monks for a while.. do you, anyone have anything from his work with the group Go? much is out of print but some may be available as japanese imports. i am a fan of that particular league of percussion [read= no designated hitters..]. imagine him with al dimeola, winwood, one of the drummers from santana,, now that's rocket science, and would love some burns there.

.. well, not *right* *now* right now, but I was getting an absolute kick out of this earlier. Apocalyptica with Nina Hagen, playing a Seeman by Rammstein. Stuff sung in German just sounds cool.

on cassette.. dead acoustic recorded from scratchy record. but - flip side is mid-80s interviews with don van vliet and gary lucas talking about the magic band, recorded off WBAI 20some years ago. mixed with some beefheart greatest hits. keeping those tapes/gems.. beefheart volks!
very recently saw the dvd of concert for bangladesh. on those heals i saw the crossroads benefit from texas with jj cale, bb king, jimmy vaughn, buddy guy, joe walsh, etc.. clapton prevails fecked up. clapton prevails sober. during the concert for bangladesh billy preston steals the show for a moment with a gospel strut across the stage that was kinda outrageous. oh the things ya just don't see on the record album. on crossroads it was simply guitarzania.

The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
I've been playing the crap out of this album lately. Great summer music. If you want a real treat, listen to The Beatles - Rubber Soul, followed by Pet Sounds, followed by Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, followed by Brian Wilson - SMILE. The Beatles & Beach Boys influenced each other with these four albums - you can really hear it. Simply incredible stuff. Brian Wilson's harmonies - awesome!
Great bus music too!

"The bus is the real talisman. It's the thing that runs through all of this history. It's not a thing anybody owns or controls. No matter how peeved you get with people, the bus always makes your heart jump. Everybody was attached to it."
