All moved in now, I had to empty the Bus.
Yanked out and sold the temporary engine
Welded in a new battery tray. WW replacement needed a bunch of trimming.
Eerie feeling seeing your engine flipped over like this
Installed filler tube with new dipstick boot.
replaced all the little gaskets underneath
Took apart and VERY carefully cleaned the fuel pump (I have a replacement, but want to try the original first)
Installed the crossbar
and annealed my exhaust gaskets
I hope to have the time this weekend to install rear hangar and exhaust, double check the end play and install.

They hold a lot, don't they?
I found your timing scale question, and have repaired the link just six months after your request.

That's what I needed. Thanks Colin.
Rear Hanger and Heater Boxes installed last night. Going to have to remove some of the tins, to get other tins in...
Adjust end play, and mark the timing marks on my fan is all that's left before I install it.

Are you looking forward to some Type 4 performance for that bus once more?

Yes, I actually have 2 complete 1700's now plus a short block. Type 4 stuff is starting to outweigh my bug stuff :)

Got an order in for a crapload of smalls, should be here late next week. Finished up the tins and buttoned up. I'm off for two weeks in a couple of days, should be running pretty soon.

Went to the DMV yesterday and finally registered my Bus, well, kinda. I paid my dues but I still need to provide a bill of sale and they gave me a 1-Day moving permit to drive to the DMV and have the VIN inspected.
Engine is ready to go in, although I will be waiting until after Christmas so I can have a buddy or 2 over to help.
Today i'm dealing with swapping tires. Just putting some decent used ones on for now and getting rid of the dry rotted ones.
I may also attempt the rear wheel cylinders, hoses and shocks... mabey the master

Got all the fuel, vacuum, and vent hoses hooked up today along with a new belt, negative battery cable, and some fresh fuel and oil :) Waiting for my wires from Autozone, 40 bucks for Bosh compared to the local VW shop (80 bucks in stock). Wires should be here in the 31st. We will see how this goes :)

Wires came in late today. Got them on but no start. I think I need to re adjust the valves, not sure if I did them right (or at all) it has been soo long. I'll get a fresh start on it tomorrow.

Well I don't quite think it was a fresh start... but a start none the less
It took me a while, but after re-checking the valves (all good) I kept cranking and all I would get was a pop out of the carbs once in a while. After taking a break I realized the 3 & 4 wires wire crossed on the cap
Also realized no fuel was getting to the carbs, so I swapped out original fuel pump with a new one I purchased a while back (Don't remember where at the moment) and that damn thing didn't work either
Went to AutoZone and purchased the Mr. Gasket electric pump after reading around TS. I just finished bolting it down, getting cold and dark now so I'll finish wiring it up (suggestions?) and plumbing tomorrow.

You and me both. Got out of Chloe after 20,000 miles + of every mountain in the country, hopped into the BobD and touched the brakes at the first stop sign, oh yeah, power brakes.
Enjoy!
