Wow Bob , that looks so great =D> Shows me what Elwood must strive for to be stock on the engine at least.
Like the one piece window also, Kinda of scary on what I will find underneath windwing. Too much snow last couple of years has taken its tole to feed the rust--- ugg.
Good job on your "Tin Top" and have many miles out in those Oregon boonies.

I did, but wanted to keep it stock ultimately. "It's German!" WTF?
These! I wonder if I should tell them? I think I will. A flawed $3 part that can ruin an engine.

If nobody tells them, how are they going to know there's a problem with the part?
Unknowingly shipping parts that are problematic isn't the same as knowingly shipping problematic parts .. how it's handled after hearing that there's a problem is what separates the good vendors from the don't-care-as-long-as-people-buy-stuff vendors.
.. was it just the one adjuster?

The first time around I didn't pack the spring/lip with grease, and I think the flywheel o ring had a distorted piece of flashing that didn't seal all the way.
I also JB Welded the galley plugs this time. And those double seals.

Plus the 911 adjusters are SPENDY. I am still trying a set of CB perf swivel feets. Only took me two packages of to get 8 good ones and a couple of spares. The crapola is everywhere.hambone wrote:I did, but wanted to keep it stock ultimately. "It's German!" WTF?

Hi Bob,
I'm sorry to hear about the adjusting screws. I can only assume that
we had infill supply not from our usual supplier when we shipped them
to you in December 2008.
Our adjusting screws are manufactured by Kolbe in Stuttgart, Germany
who make many items for VAG and Porsche.
We will send a set of 8 Kolbe screws to you today by mail. Obviously
we will not charge you.
Best Regards
Richard

Sorta makes up for th 2 month wait for a wiper arm that turned out to be the wrong part. They try at least to make it right and generally stock decent stuff.
What is this "infill supply"? I paid for German...isn't it false advertising to provide a part of a diferent origin if the website says GERMAN?
It's just not possible to build a 1969 quality engine any more. What a shame to cheapen our vintage jewels with "modern" parts. But there is no other choice besides static display like an old steam locomotive.

I recently ordered what were described as Genuine VW heater accordion tubes for my Beetle from OEVeeDub. I paid a premium price, but I wanted ones that actually fit. I have no problem paying for quality. What I received was the run-of-the-mill aftermarket tubes that I could have purchased for half the price from CIP or any of the other aftermarket vendors. When I called Richard and asked effectively, WTF!??!, he replied that he couldn't get the Genuine VW tubes anymore so he substituted the aftermarket ones. BULLSHIT!! If I hadn't called him on it, he would have been happy to sell me aftermarket crap for a premium price and perhaps has to other folks that don't know the difference. He told me to send them back and he would credit my card for the purchase price, original shipping and return shipping. He received them on 12/28 and so far, no credit. I'll be patient a little longer. Thanks for letting my hijack your thread and vent.hambone wrote:What is this "infill supply"? That's bad biz. Their name says OE right in your face. This proves that they aren't always selling what they advertise, which is a big concern for me.

P.S. 250 miles since engine reinstalled. So far dry, running well. Much much better in fact.
