Has a miss at idle but otherwise seems good. New coil is on the way -- like so many things, I've gone to the parts store only to find out they don't have it in stock but can order it and have it "X" days. Forget that -- *I* can order it and have the same thing in the same amount of time for 1/3 the price. I'm perfectly willing to pay a bit more if they actually have it on the shelf. I am *not* going to pay more for them to mail-order it from a warehouse back east.

Okay, is this the reverse-rotation project you've been working on? I've followed A. Flint's explorations with those over on TS for some time now with envious fascination.

Shh! Colin might hear us! Notice that I've been relatively quiet about this... :cyclopsani:

Yes, CCW/reverse-rotation 1.8T engine with the Passat/Audi 012 5-speed gearbox. Still working out a few kinks to get it truly dialed in -- and I still have to take it to DEQ for emissions testing before I get it reregistered -- but it's mostly there and I've been driving it since Thursday on a trip permit. Would've been on the road with it a couple of months ago but an 8-foot (plus or minus) Bus doesn't fit into a garage with a 7.5-foot ceiling very well, so I'm working in the driveway .. and we've had the wettest winter on record in Portland.
