digital idle stabilizer

Post by reluctantartist » Mon Jul 04, 2016 8:50 am

Does any one know what type of f-type wiring terminals are needed to rebuild the digital idle stabilizer plugs. These are found on the California 1979 bays and 1980-83 vanagons. The wiring on mine is starting to break and fray on mine and is causing idle issues.

Thanks

Try Kyle at http://www.kyleautomotivespecialties.com/. He builds quality replacement FI harnesses. He might have a line on components for the ignition harness as well.

Also try Jay Brown ("thatvwbusguy" on TheSamba). He's very knowledgeable on VW electrical harnesses.

Finally, if you can live without the idle stabilization, you can simply bypass the stabilizer by cutting the plugs out of the harness and soldering the wires. Bypassing the stabilizer (by unplugging it from the harness and plugging the two mating harness plugs) is part of the tune-up procedure for setting the timing, so it's obvious that the van can run without it.
