Dual Carb Preheater Connections

Post by twinfalls » Tue May 26, 2015 5:06 am

This was tempered by bone heads.
1 There is a temp switch inside to control the air preheater flap.
At the temp switch there are 2 hoses, does it matter witch is right or left ?
2 The rubber boot at the carb intake was pinched blown out, it is in a terrible shape.
I guess this part is NA. How do you fix that ? I do not want unfiltered air to get in. Would a O ring do the trick.

I had the rear brakes bad. Shoes and cylinders changed. Not bad, those were original 1974.

[Rant]On the other end my recent Renault has a leak at the gear box, lost a liter of oil, A seal went South and I was told that is frequent on these Renault. Never buy Renault, Parts are outrageously expensive and everything is unrealable. They are made to fail all over when warranty has expired.[\Rant]

The temperature switch should be located on the right side of the engine, i.e. on the #1 and #2 side of the engine. The supply vacuum should be placed on the nipple closest to the center of engine, the hose to the preheater valve needs to be on the nipple closest to the valve cover. That nipple is usually brass.
