Wonder what kind of impact it will have on aftermarket parts.

I would still like to have one, used of course.

Can we drive to Mexico and get some cheap parts?
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue, I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace. Where never lark, or even eagle flew. And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod, The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

Article says they are working on a replacement. A true update could be very interesting.

It frightens me of what their thoughts of a replacement would be though. They did pretty well with the Beetle as far as styling however.

Yeah - the new, new, new Beetle is a nice looking car. Far from simple and inexpensive, however.

That's sad. It was so nice to see so many newer Bays over there.

I think this means it's time to put together a south-of-the-border parts run. Windshields would be good...

And you can just deny their existence at the border! Oh, classic.

Totally work. They'd *never* think to search a bus, man.

Let them.
"What are all those parts, mister?"
"Hey, my car is over forty years old, I always bring several spare parts."
"Six windshields?"
"Absolutely. All of those border patrol Blazers and Suburbans passing me on the interstate throw pebbles out of their M/S tires, it's a real problem."

That's one way to look at it. Another way is that they can only get better:
They are not serviceable now, but cost money. No parts at all are equally not serviceable--and free.
That's better. :pirate:

See, because they're clear the agents won't know they're there. There. See? They won't be able to see them.
Now I'm confused...

I think he was referring to the windshields, the fact that they're transparent. I think.
