I figure my first post to this site should be meaningless and rather mundane. I've never ridden in a Thing. Namaste.

They're fun to drive. Let the top down and great summertime ride. I get that same special feeling driving my Thing as I do driving my bus.

Things are great. A stripped-down car, convertible top, lots of ground clearance, distinctive looking. It's hard to love them if you have a soul. ;)

I drove several Things when I had my business in L.A. They are definitely Essence Of Volkswagen to drive. They would have done well to not charge so much for them when new, they really were stripped down. But as ever, there is no feeling like an air-cooled Vw going up through the gears.

The father of a girl I dated in college had an orange one. (She drove a Gremlin with a 3-on-the-tree - every time I see a Nissan Murano, I think of it!) She lived at home, I visited frequently. Always was happy for the warning the air-cooled motor gave that he was coming up the driveway....

Don, I can relate. Nevertheless, it may be a bit to much information for the current Mrs. I hope your wife and daughters aren't reading your posts :blackeye: !

My kids reading the forum.... now that led to an interesting discussion which can be found in "Free Speech".....

Gee Sean, what were you thinking, anyway? Hearing his Thing was the signal for us to stop doing homework and get the burgers on the grill!! :geek:

first time in a thing yesterday. pretty good fun, and i'm selling it.

looks to have aftermarket blades because when the windshield is down the metal taps the hood. if i find blades, is the rubber available?
