Brake Fluid Bottle hoses on Thing

Post by amishman » Mon Apr 06, 2009 3:06 pm

I have my tank out for cleaning and replacing all fuel related hoses in the Thing in the trunk. I already did engine bay fuel hoses.

So, question is, the two hoses from the brake fluid bottle that go to the master cylinder. When I remove those hoses, does that introduce air into the brake system and I will now need to bleed again?

Is there any trick to replacing these two hoses without having to bleed the system?

I was thinking remove excess fluid from bottle with a syphon or turkey baster. Then pull hoses so I lose minimal fluid out the hoses. Then replace with new hoses. Fill bottle and hopefully I am done!

Will air only really get into system if I remove the hoses and then decided to step on the brake pedal a few times playing with the master cylinder which then brings in the air? Or is it the second I remove the hoses I get air into system?

Don't push the pedal while the hoses are disconnected.
