Brake Line Wrench Size?

Post by sped372 » Thu Mar 26, 2009 4:31 pm

Hey all... a leaky rear wheel cylinder has prompted me to jack up the rear of the bug and pull things apart. Quick question...

I don't have any of those fancy "flare" wrenches. At least that's what I think they're called. The box end wrenches with the slot for the brake line to pass through. Anyway, matching up to the normal wrenches in my box it would appear that I want an 11mm, is this correct? I'd like to pick one up so I don't round the corners off and curse myself in frustration.

Thanks!

You don't need them. I pulled my OG lines off of my 67 with reg'lar box wrenches. Squirt some PB blaster on them the night before for good measure, the name of the game is protecting the hard line and wheel cylider threads.....if you are replacing the hoses you could even get "bad" with them and apply some vice grips.
