Bad mileage

Post by ruckman101 » Sun Mar 02, 2008 2:40 pm

Sheesh, only 20 miles to the gallon in Gretchen. My thoughts went straight to adjusting the carb. Any other suggestions of what may be the culprit?

thanks,

Timing or point gap could be slightly off.

Hiya Neal,

Or you could be running a bit too rich. Valves also, but don't I remember you having already adjusted them? Checked your compression?

Tuesday I plan to go over the valves and get the new points in. But yes, checked valves under 1,000 miles ago. Gap checked two weeks ago, timing one week ago. Haven't done a compression test, no.
