Brake booster seems a little off.
Huh? What brake booster?
Do they make mirrors for the passenger side and what does it take to install it into a bug with no hole for it?
Yes. Basically, all you have to do is to spot and drill the hole on the sheet metal. I was always interested in doing the passenger side mirror thing and I had an opportunity to ask another Bugpilot about it. He said that his mirror had come as a kit. And that it included a capture nut and a large washer. I too still gotta get moving in that direction.
Oil filter. Is it a good idea to add one?
Yes again. But this is one of those areas that you'll need to do your own research on. Filtering oil in a Type1 can be accomplished in two basic styles. You need to take a look at those alternatives and choose what might be best in your situation.
What year seats fit a '74 Super Beetle?
Why, 74 of course! Trick question, right? OK, OK.......I'm an earlier Bugger, but I believe that 73 on are interchangeable.
I have cancer.

It does not have me.

Congratulations! Sounds like you got a pretty good deal!

The Bookwus speaks truly in answer to your questions! (well, I'm not sure about the mirror thing, but sounds reasonable!)

That would explain it. I assumed it was like a Bus. '72 on has a booster.

Thanks again. I'll do my research.

IIRC, the seat mounting in the Mk1 watercooled VWs (Rabbit, 'Rocco, Cabby, pre-'85 Jetta) is nearly identical, so you might be able to use those seats with a bit of modification to the rear legs on the seat .. think they're too short to let the seat bottom sit level. Nothing that can't be fixed with a bit of cut-and-weld and a piece of steel pipe.

If you go seat shopping, watch out that you don't get a pair of mid-'72 to '73 Type 3 seats -- they'll fit the tracks, but are too wide to allow the door to shut if you've got pesky things like doorpanels and armrests.
Remember, only YOU can prevent narcissism!

Thanks. I'll look out for the Type 3s. I don't think I want anything as fancy as the MK1 seats.
