I had to install the old generator after this brand new Bosch one died a stinky death on the freeway the other night. Changed out to a new regulator too...but it gave me a chance to clean up the engine bay and install the new rebuilt PICT-3 carb I got from Ken.

Voltage regulator points stuck I think.
