A must-read. It is not a short article, and it is well-researched, and it shall likely enlighten you.

I read this in its entirety at a truck stop with a view of the NY skyline last night. I’ve never been made dizzy by a reporter news article before. And I don’t know how to begin discussing it, with so much reported wrongdoing.

This disheartening thing is that many/most of the follow-up articles I've read seem to be echoing the "probably nothing will happen" sentiment. What message is this sending to the rest of us? Get away with whatever you can? What a great role model!?

I agree. It is almost like a cultural learned helplessness being promulgated through the news. But! The New York Attorney General's office is crackerjack, and they will be waiting . . .

Trump is giddy with beating the system all the way to the White House! Hmm, so was Al Capone until the IRS took him down.

Not only is the NY AG crackerjack, they will wait for him to leave office, then the blood-letting will begin.

The right will scream about protecting the presidency but the damage he has done in NY will not be forgotten nor forgiven.

The NYT has his whole financial picture, but the lemmings who bought his mythical business acumen will continue to believe that for all time.

Whatever.

I try to get a historical context together for "what to do about the lemmings".

What happened to Hitler's fanboys? What happened to Joe McCarthy's groupies? What happened to Nixon's "Silent Majority"?

They slink back into the shadows muttering without irony that the world is going to hell with no understanding that they participated in the slide. Then they infect the last people they have any influence over, their children.
And the cycle continues . . .

The best part of the trump idiocy is that is has revealed the racists, misogynists, and tribe for who they are. Of the business Republicans in my life 85% did not vote for him, and the other 15 were the tribe...still defending him ( one says the Dems upped tariffs to protect the union leadership)
