Maybe it is just my place in history, but I miss my perception of the gravitas of adulthood back then.
I do despise "handlers" and public personae experts and all of the ways that we manipulate perception.

When the Nixon campaign brought in the nasties like Haldeman and Erlichmann, and started carpet-bombing the personal traits of George McGovern and Edmund Muskie, we seemed to devolve into a grade-school argument from which we have yet to return.
